In 1929, the Galveston Diocesan Council of Catholic Women organized at the urging of U.S. Catholic bishops to affiliate with the National Council of Catholic Women. As an early project, the women of the Diocese of Galveston established an endowment fund in support of seminarians. This fund was incorporated in 1933 and named The Catholic Clerical Student Fund (CCSF) and remains a major focus of the GH ACCW members.
On behalf the executive board of the Galveston Houston Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women (G-H ACCW) along with our deanery presidents throughout the Galveston- Houston area we are so happy that you are here to learn more about G-H ACCW. On May 14th-16th we held our 85th annual convention in Dickenson, Texas at the beautiful Christian Renewal Center, an absolute quiet jewel nestled in the piney woods of Dickinson, Texas.
As a practicing catholic woman, you are a member of G-H ACCW. Your activities within your parish and community, represents what being an active catholic woman is all about. For the next two years, I want to do my very best as your president. I look forward to meeting and interacting with women throughout our dioceses to bring awareness to GH-ACCW.
I encourage you to join a local deanery near you. Become active! Each deaneries meet once a month. We have deaneries located in Southwest, Northwest, Bay Area (Clearlake, Dickinson, Webster, Kemah, Friendswood and Clearlake area) Northeast, Bluebonnet (serves Sealy, Bellville, Fulshear, Brookshire and Katy) Western (Sugar Land, Richmond, Mo.
